Name: Reggie
Breed: Staffordshire Bull Terrier
Sex: Male - neutered
Age: 11 yrs
Colour: White with brindle
Dog friendly: Under assessment
Cats: Unlikey
Children: Teenage

Poor Reggie came into rescue under very sad circumstances and we have no previous history.  He is a very friendly chap, liking lots of fuss but always seems to have a serious, worried face bless him xx He has a couple of lumps and bumps that we would expect to find on an old boy and will be having a full MOT with our vet Dave and these will be checked along with having his vaccinations. He is having some basic assessments at the boarding kennels but we hope to get him up to the training field shortly for a full assessment. He is a favourite with the kennel staff and has recently enjoyed a bubble bath which he thought was great fun and really enjoys lots of attention and cuddles.  More info to follow soon.

Name: Bertie
Breed: Terrier Cross - large
Sex: Male - neutered
Age: 11 yrs
Colour: Red broken coat with docked tail
Dog friendly:

Yes

Cats: Unknown
Children: Adult

Poor Bertie is a bundle of nerves bless him xx Worried by quick hand and foot movements this little lad struggles to make eye contact initially with new people but is very foody so did come around to me fairly quickly with sausage !!! He is very anxious to please you and affectionate and nuzzley looking at you for constant reassurance that all is ok - a real heartbreaker xx He loves his tennis ball and during our first walk he had learnt to drop the ball for a treat without even asking him and he really needs lots of gentle reassurance x He is quite noise phobic especially traffic so we are looking for an experienced calm and quiet home with a routine and with possibly another chilled and confident canine to help 'paw hold' until he settles x His existing home has had him for 8 months and sadly there is no real history before that and she realises that he needs more of a terrier experienced home without any visiting grandchildren to worry him xxx Bertie does require a secure garden as he has escaped several times and found in the local church with the choir xxxx He would love an understanding home with lots of gentle encourangement and love and bless him dozed happily on my feet whilst I completed his rehoming form:(( Please give him a chance xxx I am hoping to bring him to HQ and pop him in a bedroom in our oap unit w/c 17th October xxx

BERTIE UPDATE - Bertie has now been at HQ for nearly 6 weeks and is doing really well x He enjoys going for walks with the other dogs and actually seems more confident out and about in there company x He loves to play with toys, carries his big Buffalo chew everywhere with him and is very brave and now greets all visitors at HQ with a friendly lick x He does like a routine and can get a bit stressy if this changes and would be best suited to an active retired home where this is somebody about during the day and the day is structured. He is not quite so daunted now going out in the dark but is very aware of noises and sadly the fireworks put him back a few weeks as he wouldn't venture out on his own even just outside the door :((( He could go as an only dog but also as a companion dog to a laid back mature one which would probably help with his confidence. He is the sweetest, most affectionate lad you could meet and is constantly looking at you for reassurance by way of kind words, a smile and a stroke and always pleased to see you x  He is still wary of fast hand and leg movements but becoming more relaxed, he has poor sight in his right eye which is worse in bright light so this may make this worse x He would make a wonderful companion and so deserves to be curled up on a rug beside the fire this Christmas xxx

Name: Biscoff
Breed: Terrier
Sex: Male - neutered
Age: 3 yrs
Colour: Black with tan and white
Dog friendly:

Under assessment - very enthusiastic!

Cats: Unlikely
Children: 8 yrs +

Biscoff is a real cheeky chappy!!!  He is super little lad, bit hand shy at first but soon comes out of his shell.  He is an extremely busy boy and would need a very active home where there is lots going on as he is very inquisitive and likes to be involved with everything. He will need a  SECURE garden with a minimum of 6ft panel fencing and gravel boards as he is very scent driven x

All true terrier lovers will be smitten with this boy whose antics will make you smile. He loves a good country walk and is used to a long line and will not be one that can be let off as he will pick up a scent and go. Any offlead will need to be in a secure area. He would be more suited to a rural home as we feel he would not benefit from suburban park walking but is better in a low density field and woodland area. Please give this lovely lad a chance x

Name: Skye
Breed: Beagle cross
Sex: Female
Age: 6 yrs
Colour: Tri-colour
Dog friendly:

Quite shy when meeting new dogs, needs time to get to know them

Cats: No
Children: Adult

Please meet sweet Skye, a 5yr old Beagle cross who had a bad start in life and has been with her family for 5 yrs but is now struggling to cope with a more hectic home. Poor Skye is very timid, and will need a patient and gentle adult home with a routine and time to help work with her to build her confidence and is extremely anxious around new people and in new situations x She is extremely affectionate once she is relaxed in your company and gives a lovely ear wash x Typical Beagle she is extremely foody and exchange is required !!!! She is quite a big girlie, but very finely boned and we are now of the opinion that she is probably crossed with a Pointer x

Skye had visited HQ several times in an effort to help the transition be less stressful before she came here and she was visibly more comfortable each time. She started walking with the other dogs and that certainly helped relax her but now she is here she is quite happy to walk alone with our vounteers. Initially we had felt that she maybe better going as a companion dog as her confidence has grown, we feel she is better going as an only pet as she doesn't like to share with other dogs but fine to walk with them.  Any new prospective home must be happy to visit a few times for her to get to know them followed by several visits leading to an overnight at the new home.

Skye is a lovely girl and is looking for an active home and would be more suited to a semi rural environment, her recall is good in the garden but if there is anything of interest her hearing seems to go!!!!!!!!! She is not used to being left for long periods so would be suited to a home worker or someone that can take her in the car with them etc x She is quite wary of men so we do feel a lady owner maybe better although she is very attached to my husband who walks her at HQ x

Name: Buddy
Breed: Patterdale cross
Sex: Male
Age: 7 yrs
Colour: Black with white
Dog friendly:

Can be over enthusiastic but does calm down!!

Cats: No
Children: Adult

Poor Buddy has had a really poor start in life and is extremely anxious around new people and in new situations.  He is SUPER FRIENDLY with  other dogs and is much more confident when he is amongst them and we are therefore looking to place him in a home as a second dog with a confident and well balanced canine companion as a role model.  Once he knows and trusts you he is very affectionate and loveable x   He is a busy boy and would need a fairly active home where there is lots going on as he is very inquisitive and likes to be involved with everything. He does suffer from quite bad Separation Anxiety issues and any home would need to be about most of the time and be happy to work with us on a program to help manage this.  Apart from out walking and enjoying lots of sniffs, Buddy's favourite hobby is sitting with you for cuddles and he is more than happy to snuggle up on the sofa with you x

All true terrier lovers will be smitten with this boy whose antics will make you smile. He loves a good country walk and is used to a long line and will not be one that can be let off intially as he will pick up a scent and go. Any offlead will need to be in a secure area. He would be more suited to a rural home as we feel he would not benefit from suburban park walking but is better in a low density field and woodland area. Please give this lovely lad a chance x

UIPDATE Buddy has now been in foster at HQ for over 2 months and his confidence is coming on in leaps and bounds although he is still wary of strange men. He enjoys the company of other dogs and could live with another well matched canine companion.  He has quite a strict routine here and this has helped greatly with his Separation Anxiety and he is happy to chill in his bed with a chew and enjoys a good snooze after his morning and afternoon run x He is still a work in progress and any transition to a new home will need to be done gradually.
