Name: Leo
Breed: Jack Russell Cross
Sex: Male
Age: 11yrs
Colour: White with black rough coat
Dog friendly:

Fairly reactive but work in progress

Cats: No
Children: 8 yrs +

Sadly Leo is looking for a new home due to the sudden death of his owner. He is a lively and affectionate little man with proper JRT Queen Anne legs and long waggy tail which hasn't stopped going since he arrived - a real happy chappy !!!!!  Leo hasn't really been out much over the last 8 years so moving from a suburban area to rural HQ has been very stimulating for him with all the wildlife here ! He is starting to calm down a bit but gets extremely excited on a walk if he sees a squirrel or birds etc and is fairly strong on the lead despite his size and age - although I have to say he is 11 years going on 11 months!! He is a cuddly, licky boy who is straight up on your lap when you sit down and does love human company x He is a very busy boy and would suit a fairly active home.  Despite living with Tammy and Polly he would definitely be better as any only dog as he does resource guard with other dogs and is an opportunist bully with Polly who is very quiet bless her.  He has been quite reactive with the other dogs at HQ but he has not seen any other dogs for 8 yrs and his excitement level is still very high and we are hoping this will gradully lessen once the novelty has worn off and we will be working with this. If you feel you have a place for this lovable rogue then please contact us.

Name: Rosie
Breed: Lhaso Apso
Sex: Female - spayed
Age: 12 yrs
Colour: Tan
Dog friendly:

Needs to go as only pet in the house but happy to walk with other dogs.

Cats: No
Children: 10 yrs plus

Rosie is a 12yr old Lhasa Apso looking for a home due to her second owner's ill health as her original owner passed away 6 yrs ago. Rosie is a real character,  loves fuss and attention and despite her years is very sprightly and enjoys a good walk.  She has had an MOT with our vet and is in good health, vaccinated and spayed, as with these breeds she will need regular clipping and the fur around her eyes will need to be trimmed, she is happy to have all of this done x  Rosie is a bit of a diva and isn't keen to share attention in the house, so will need to go as an only pet although she is happy to walk with other dogs.  She also likes her home comforts and is used to sleeping in the bedroom and does prefer your bed!!!!   Sadly Rosie does suffer from Separation Anxiety and can be vocal if left, there is no destruction nor mess, therefore we are looking for a home where there is someone about most of the time and hoping that once she is settled the anxiety may lessen.  She is a dear little girl and really deserves a loving retirement home, if you have room on your sofa and bed for her, please contact us.

UPDATE - Rosie has been in kennels for the last couple of weeks and although she does spend most of the time helping in the staff kitchen, they have noticed that when she returns to her kennel the SA howling lasts for about an hour and then stops, so we are hopeful that this will improve once she is in a home and has a steady routine.

Name: Winston
Breed: Jack Russell Cross
Sex: Male
Age: 8 yrs
Colour: Tri-colour smooth coat
Dog friendly:

No very anxious - currently attending socialisation classes

Cats: No
Children: Adult

WINSTON - dinky, tri-coloured neutered male Jack Russell Cross 8 yrs old. Winston is looking for a new home as there were squabbles with a sibling in the existing home. He is a very sweet and affectionate little man but nervous so we are looking for a very calm and quiet adult home. He is quite jumpy so not suited to children x Winston is a work in progress with other dogs and his foster mum has been taking him to classes and there has been quite a bit of improvement so it would be nice for these to continue. Winston needs to go to a home as an only pet and is happier walking in open spaces rather than busy suburban parks where there are lots of offlead dogs, he enjoys his walks and is happy to cover a few miles x He is a lovely little boy and really deserves a gentle and loving home and will repay you with lots of snuggles x He has really bonded with his foster mum and there are now some separation issues, pacing and barking but she is starting to work on this x If you feel you can offer a special home to this sensitive little man, please contact us xxx

LOOKING TO PLACE AS A COMPANION WITH ANOTHER OLDER, PLACID DOG X

After much deliberation, we have decided to split Tammy and Polly, who were looking for a home after the sudden death of their owner. Tammy is now in long term foster.  Polly is a very shy girl, but soon comes around and is very sweet and licky x  She was quite shell-shocked by her owners bereavement as she was the one that sat with her on the sofa and does have some separation anxiety issues xx  She has had a shampoo and set and is quite happy to be trimmed and has been health checked and vaccinated by us x  She is  used to home comforts and always asking to be picked up for cuddles and to sit on your lap x She is house trained and clean overnight.  We are looking for a quiet and calm lady owner to help build Polly's confidence as she has not really been out much previously and finds everything quite scary including men and feel she will be better going with a nice steady older dog as a companion to help her anxiety xxx She is a really affectionate little girl and really deserves a lovely warm lap to cuddle up on xx If you and your canine companion feel you can offer a loving and quiete home, please contact us x

Name: Holly and Daisy
Breed: Jack Russell Teriers
Sex: Female
Age: 7 yrs and 4 yrs
Colour: White with tan
Dog friendly:

Relaxed around other dogs but still assessing. Holly can be bossy!!

Cats: Unlikely
Children: 10 +

Holly and Daisy came into rescue as unclaimed strays and we think they are possibly mum and daughter. Holly had severe respiratory issues and is currently under our cardiologist awaiting lab results to ascertain the best course of treatment going forward. She is currently on medication and is responding very well but subject to lab results these will be streamlined for her condition. They are a bonded pair and as such we will be looking to place them together. Once her medical condition and ongoing treatment is confirmed, the rescue may sponsor these costs longterm.

They are lovely, friendly girls and Holly is the confident one with Daisy following her lead. Daisy is keen to say hello to all dogs but Holly is more observant and reads them better.  Both girls will need house training as we think they may have lived out, although they love the warmth in the OAP unit and snuggle up together in their big soft bed x Daisy will be neutered but we are not keen to put Holly under a second GA currrently. They are typical terriers, especially Holly who will be off on a scent given the chance, so they do require a secure garden with min 5 ft panel fencing with gravel boards. Very cuddly girls that are happy to sit up on your lap for lots of fussing and absolutely adore their food and treats xx

FOSTER UPDATE - JAN 2021

Now that Holly is feeling better, the girls are partners in crime and do get up to mischief, so will keep any prospective home 'on their toes' ! They have obviously not been street walked out on a lead previously and are quite a handful weaving between each other, so would poss be better suited to been driven to an open space for walking or a semi rural home without busy roads.

FOSTER UPDATE - FEB 2021

Daisy has now been spayed and has really come out of her shell and first to greet everyone now!! She is full of beans and constantly wants to interact with you with toys and play with Holly, definitely the greediest she is desperate to get in pockets for treats!! Holly is currently stable on a fairly low dose of prednisalone but the acute bronchitis may well have left her lungs scarred so although we will be looking to wean her down, it may well be that she will have to remain on them for life. She will require quarterly scans at our cardiologist in Milford for the first year and we are hoping that with the improvements this will scale down. This does not impede her normal everyday life although obviously she will not be up to walking miles!!! They are an adorable pair that just want cuddling when they ar indoors xx

ECR WILL BE COVERING THE COST OF ANY LIFETIME MEDS REQUIRED FOR THIS CONDITION AND ALL SCANS AT OUR CARDIOLOGIST - THE FIRST OF WHICH IS DUE ON 10TH MARCH 2021 .
